In the second 50 % of the 3rd century, Ancyra was invaded in quick succession via the Goths coming in the west (who rode much into the guts of Cappadocia, using slaves and pillaging) and afterwards from the Arabs. For about a decade, the city was among the list of western outposts of 1 of Palmyrean empress Zenobia within the Syrian Desert, who took
